"Kate Middleton" | Last Birthday As a Commoner before Wedding of Kate Middleton

The office of William and his father Prince Charles,Clarence House, refused to give any details of how Middleton would mark her big day, saying only that she was spending it "privately."

British media said that Kate who is five months older than her royal fiance was expected to enjoy low-key festivities with her family and friends as she prepares for her April 29 nuptials.

Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, a publication focusing on the royal family said"She will probably want to keep a low profile because the rest of her life will be high profile,"
"There are a lot of parties coming up so she might just want some really, really close friends and family with her or it could be just her and William."
Prince William is serving as a Royal Air Force search and rescue helicopter pilot in Anglesey, Wales.
The couple were seen in public on Saturday at the wedding of one of William's friends, with Kate sporting a tailored black velvet coat, a black dress with a plunging sheer neckline and a jaunty black beret.
William was an usher for the wedding in the northern village of Boroughbridge of Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, a schoolmate from the prince's time at the elite Eton College, and Louise Stourton.
The News of the World tabloid, Britain's biggest selling newspaper, focused instead on whether or not the country's future queen was wearing a bra.

William and Kate earlier this week released new details of the plans for their wedding at London's Westminster Abbey, including that they would be married by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.
They will also make a procession in a horse-drawn carriage through some of the capital's most historic sites after they have tied the knot

Biography:
Martha Graham (May 11, 1894 - April 1, 1991), an American dancer and choreographer, is known as one of the foremost pioneers of modern dance.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to California when she was 14 years old. After seeing Ruth St. Denis perform in the 1910s, she took an interest in dance. Not until the age of 22 (1916) did she pursue her interest professionally by enrolling at Denishawn. In 1925, Graham became a dance instructor at the Eastman School of Music and Theater in Rochester, New York. She later set out on her own with the support of Louis Horst, an accompanist whom she had got to know while training at Denishawn and who grew to be her musical mentor and lover. Graham founded her own company, the Martha Graham Dance Company, in 1926. Her unique movement style -- widely recognised for its principle of contraction and release -- and imagery reflected the modern art of the times.

At Bennington College in 1932, Graham founded the first-ever bachelor of arts degree in dance. In 1951, she was a founding member of the dance division of the Juilliard School.

In 1936, Graham made her defining work, "Chronicle", which signalled the beginning of a new era in contemporary dance. The dance brought serious issues to the stage for the general public in a dramatic manner. Influenced by the Wall Street Crash, the Great Depression and the Spanish Civil War, it focused on depression and isolation, reflected in the dark nature of both the set and costumes.

Graham's dancing life gradually came to a rest starting in the 1950s. In 1927, the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance was established. One of her students was heiress Bethsabée de Rothschild with whom she became close friends. When Rothschild moved to Israel and established the Batsheva Dance Company in 1965, Graham became the company's first director, groomed its first generation of dancers, and made works for it.

In 1948, Graham married Erick Hawkins(a principle dancer in her company). She didn't want to marry, but after eight years of living together, he decided they should.

Her final dance performances came in the late 1960s, and from then on she focused on choreography. Some critics say that even though there is little physical record of her dancing, it is more memorable than her choreography. Graham continued working until her death from pneumonia in 1991 at the age of 96.

She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1976 by President Gerald Ford (the First Lady Betty Ford had danced with Graham in her youth).

In 1998, TIME magazine listed her as the "Dancer of the Century" and as one of the most important people of the 20th century.

John James Audubon
April 26, 1785-January 27, 1851

Birds. How exasperating they are! Even when I lift my camera to shoot them through the window, they scatter. Light, vulnerable and deft, they hide in the branches until the frightening woman with the black box vanishes. They must think my camera shoots bullets instead of photographs.

I told you about my single attempt to photograph birds in the meadow in winter. None appeared though I sat for an hour and a half and froze my tush, never to embark out again this season.

Not so Mr. Audubon. From the time he was a baby he felt an intimacy with birds bordering on frenzy. He spent most of his life chronicling them, often in harrowing conditions. (See field notes from his journals, below.)

The portrait, above (now where Sasha and Malia can see it daily on the west wall of the of Audubon by John Syme shows him as he must have looked in the years 1820-1824 when he explored Mississippi, Alabama and Florida in the start of his attempt to paint all the birds of North America. One of the treasured books I inherited from my parents is Audubon's Birds of America, the greatest picture book of all time. It has 435 watercolor plates of birds painted by John, well my edition has photographs of the plates. In all, the field work and paintings took 14 years to complete for the book. Yes, the gun there means he shot birds in order to draw them. At the time of the painting of this portrait in Edinburgh by the Scottish Syme, Audubon was in the British Isles looking for a publisher for the book.

The theme was the 226th birthday of John James Audubon.
John James Audubon (April 26, 1785 – January 27, 1851) was a French-American ornithologist, naturalist, hunter, and painter. He painted, catalogued, and described the birds of North America in a manner far superior to what had gone before.

Oh, that explained the birds.
